Kostovic’s record is built more on clay, and her hard-court results were losing before this two-week stretch. São Paulo’s quarterfinal and the Ankara semifinal have cost her another week of matches, a trip to Turkey and Friday’s doubles semifinal. Iatcenko’s hard-court numbers are stronger: she won 72% of those matches last season, then qualified at the US Open and pushed through a long decider against Zarazua after trailing late.

Iatcenko also recovered from a set down against Hruncakova and has since won two straight sets in Ankara. Her doubles walkover spared her extra court time; its reason is unknown, not evidence of injury. With the ranking gap small, Iatcenko +1.5 games is the sensible cushion: she can win outright or keep a close loss close. Kostovic’s sharp returning remains the risk, so the total is a pass; frequent breaks could mean either a long match or a lopsided set.
